Today I got copies of not one but two magazines that I worked for recently. That’s so much better than bills and credit card offers.

The new issue of Adorn hits newsstands in a few days (subscribers should already have their copies) and I am so proud to have worked on this story: the editors picked a chair from a big box store and asked three bloggers (me, Holly from Decor8 and Gregory from Apartment Therapy LA-I am so flattered to be included with such talented company) to build a room around the chair. Here’s a little sneak peek of my room:

I also styled the whole story and let me tell you, despite the huge amount of work that went into it, this was one of my favorite jobs ever.

Also, I designed a recycled sweater dress for them for a Recycled Fashion story. I love working on these projects because I often get to do something I have never done before. My initial instinct is always “oh, I don’t know how to do that” but somehow I suppress this instinct, and charge ahead as if I am the most confident person in the world. It’s amazing what a little forced confidence can do for a person, right?

Last but not least, I did a handmade play-doh story for Parent’s magazine! Not my usual style but it was fun trying to figure out something more “kid friendly” and making play-doh is insanely fun.

What a busy woman you have been! I’ve been toying with the idea of subscribing to Adorn for awhile now. Though I still haven’t decided either way, I must get this latest issue, especially with the recycled fashion piece in it.

You’ve gotta teach me how to bound forward with confidence, despite not being sure what you are doing … I need that. ;)

hi kayte! i just wanted to check in and tell you i looked high and low (and it was easy, since there were so many street vendors trying to sell things all the time) for the special bracelets you miss from brasil…but alas, the only time i saw them was on my last day, on a girl’s arm across the street while i waited at a crosswalk. ): i did pick up some other kinds, let me know if you want one - they are made of some straw like material, and pretty cute, :) boa sorte..xo jenny

Oh great job! As soon as I read that yesterday I ran out to my mailbox and there was my Adorn! I love the story, especially the “sweater leg socks” that the booted model is wearing. I’m totally gonna do that!

    Kayte,

Somehow it’s comforting to know that even a powerhouse like you has to will yourself to be such an accomplished creative force. You are always an inspiration.

    Kayte,

Congratulations! The room looks absolutely beautiful. I’m not a subscriber to Adorn magazine but I must pick up this issue when it’s hits newsstands.

I’m a huge tabletop lover and I connected to this room. Chinoiserie inspired patterns on china are my passion. I just purchased the Jasper Conran chinoiserie dessert plates and I love them.

Again, congrats and job well done!!!
