Little Red Art Show
A little shameless promotion here: Mr. Loveforever works in the design department at Little Red Schoolhouse, a very cool and progressive school in the West Village, and they are having a charity art auction this week. All proceeds from the auction go to providing financial assistance to kids who would otherwise not be able to attend this school.
Here is the piece I made for the show:

and a detail to show all the sewing and layers:

Lately I have been very inspired by maps, constellations and secret places and I like the idea of showing these things with thread, wallpaper and crochet.
I’m humbled to have my art shown in the same room as Annie Liebovitz and Willem de Kooning but still it’s pretty cool. I just hope someone buys it!
For more information, including bidding information and photos of a lot of artist’s work (mine got to them super-late so there isn’t a photo up!) go to the Little Red website here.

WOW. What a beautiful piece! I love the contrast between the more geometric lines of the map and the softer pieces that you’ve sewed in place. I also love the detailed stitches that mirror the dash lines of the map. It’s beautiful!!

I love your piece! Is that on canvas, or did you mount it over a frame after you finished it?
