You would have to be paying a lot of attention to remember this but about a year ago I started making this fish softie. I originally intended to put him on a platter with lemons and greens but something just wasn’t working and so this little guy has been sitting on my work table forever.

About a week ago I had an idea to mount him on a plaque and I sprang into action! I plan to make more of these; check back with me next year!

A week ago, I stopped in John Derian to visit and friend (and look around at things I can’t afford) and I happened upon some amazing knit accessories made by designer Ruth Cross. Besides being utterly gorgeous, Ruth Cross goods are made using locally sourced wool and horn and are made by hand in small quantities.

I just couldn’t help myself and bought a lovely gray knitted cuff with a large horn toggle. For more of Ruth’s beautiful apparel and accessories, check out her website here.

Even though I enjoy a summer sundress as much as the next girl, fall is the fashion season I truly love. There is nothing better than cozy sweaters and rosy cheeks. Since I am always looking forward to fall,  I love these photos of the Japanese label Minä Perhonen.

It’s 90 degrees out, I’m wearing a sundress, drinking an icy cocktail* and…making gingerbread cookies for a photo shoot. That’s right, it’s the beginning of holiday season for photo stylists and my apartment is looking very confused. There is a giant pile of holiday themed decor parked in my kitchen on its way to a shoot this week.

In more seasonally appropriate news, I just bought my plane tickets for San Francisco. I am so excited about Renegade!

*Oh and the cocktail? Whiskey, lime and San Pelegrino Limonata equals the most delicious summer drink ever. I swear.

Have you been reading Heart Handmade, the blog dedicated to all things DIY? Yes, there are a million handmade blogs right now but this one really rises above all the bloggy noise. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite reads.

It’s been quite a hectic week around here and I have been an all-out grump today so I thought it would be nice to remind myself of a few wonderful and happy things in my life.

*These flowers from my CSA that I picked up last night. I am so excited to have fresh flowers every couple of weeks!

*Lots of other delicious things from the CSA- asparagus, arugula, mixed greens and strawberries. We made the perfect salad last nights with fresh greens that tasted like they had just been picked from the ground. The great thing is, they actually were.

*I got a copy of my book yesterday in the mail! It’s actually a real-live thing.

*I won a big bunch of quilt squares of Marimekko fabric on ebay. Looking forward to making some pretty things with these.

*Renegade NY is this weekend and I actually get to walk around and enjoy it.
